After seeing several Doctors and 10 months later, I am finally pain free.
I have had neck and thoracic pain for over 10 months now and went to at least five Docs.....most of who told me, "I was getting old", "I can't help you, it is hereditary" and "just live with it". Ridiculous statements for someone who is my age, 52 and in great shape.
I finally met Dr. Bruce Cook of New England Neurology who said he could help me by fusing disk C4 and C5. I did the surgery on the 13 and today on the 16Th, I feel 100% better.......

Story about CORE training
I have been training BAC for about one year now. In that year, she has become a totally different woman, a very fit woman. She works very hard with me twice a week and on the other days she gets her workout in however she can.
BAC recently went skiing and was so proud to tell me that she did "black diamonds" trails, was not scared and felt much more balanced and strong. We work on her total body but BAC attributed it to her CORE and how strong she had become. It kept her centered and balanced=more confident skier........

News about Health Bars
I made a batch of health bars for my client BAC maybe two weeks ago. BAC works a lot and sometmes skips meals, which is the worst for your metabolism.
Anyway, she started to incorporate the bars in her diet, which are packed with protein, fiber and nuts, to her surprise, she was not hungry and her body was shrinking.........The fact is: do not starve yourself and add more protein to your diet. Protein builds muscle, muscle burns more calories at a resting rate.
But let me tell you, BAC works out with me twice a week and then does her own workouts on the other days.
So, people, word to the wise,,,,,,,,,,,workout daily, eat healthy and you are good to go.

Let's talk about running!
So, I think I have told you all in my bio that I was an avid triathlete for over 18 give or take a year..... I have done 5 marathons and several half marathons.
I have been injured for a while and had to take 5 months off and now can only run between 3-4 miles which I will take because I love running.
The best foods to eat before running and you should eat about 1 hour before hand. I do best with whole grain toast and a touch of peanut butter, oatmeal or a banana. I will not suggest eating citrus fruits before running. Somehow it just comes up and makes for a nasty stomach ache.
Also, if you are thinking of doing a marathon and have never done one before, start slowly. Start with a 5K, then a 10K, then a half marathon and then a full. Training for a marathon takes time and so much effort. Be good to your body!

Health Magazine, October 2009 (jump roping)
I am a big fan of jump roping and always have been since way back. I remember doing a shot for Mademoiselle magazine back in the early 80's.......It burns just as many calories as running and you can do it in your home, driveway or garage.Don't get frustrated at the beginning,,,,it is not easy but you will see the benefits very quickly.

Kids and snacks
One of my topics last night was talking about children and the amount of snacks they consume these days. I am one of eleven and 51 years old, so back in my day, my Mom would send us out to play, come in for lunch, go out to play, maybe have an apple in the afternoon and then dinner with a touch of dessert. These days children walk two steps and they are asked if they want a snack or juice. Juice is not a "thirsty" drink, water is! Gatorade should only be consumed when you are doing an endurance sport, such as running, biking, swimming for a long time. Most of the snacks these days have way too much dye, sugar and chemicals. Stick with fruits , veggies and whole grain snacks.
We really have to teach our children the proper nutrition. Eat when you are hungry, which isn't all the time! Children need to watch calories as well........

Burn some calories while watching TV
This is another article from O Oprah's magazine and I love this idea. Instead of going to the fridge, (you really shouldn't be eating after 8pm) do some exercises like the above photo. You could also add squats, sit ups, let lifts, etc......... Have a stability ball in your TV area and play around on that while watching TV. I know at least one of my clients does this with her daughter!9/12/2009 | fitness | 3 Comments
About me:
This is the happiest I have been in my life and that's because there is now more to look forward to than at any time in my past. I am relaunching my modeling career, concentrating on fitness and eating well and starting a new business venture with some of the brightest people I know. This product will be launching this fall and I will talk more about it when we get closer to the time.
Many of you may recognize me from my modeling days in New York, London, Paris and Milan. I was very lucky to have been one of the "super models" of the 80"s and had a wonderful time and had some of the most incredible experiences of my life. I met some of the most creative, most intelligent and some of my best friends. I am still modeling and am with Maggie Inc. Boston, MA, Bryan Bantry, NY, NY; Exte Model Management, Helsinki and Masters Models, Paris.
As for my fitness background. I wrote a book with Jeff Aquilon, called "One on One" in the early eighties. I am currently an ACE and NSCA certified Personal Trainer, I have my 200 hour RYT through Yogafit, and my Pilates certification through Physical Mind Institute of NYC.
Health, fitness and cooking are my passions in life and that is what this blog is all about.
I hope you will be checking in to see what the newest fashions trends are, what is the exercise of the week, my thoughts on weight control, healthy eating and great cooking ideas.
Namaste!
