Hot fudge Sunday's, molten cake, bon bons!!

I had a lovely dinner on Friday night and was tempted honestly for the first time with three of my most favourite desserts rigth in front of me. I resisted and felt great about my decesion. I was not going to break my rule!
I have one more week to go and I just may keep going!
You can do anything you put your mind to!

Birthday Party and NO CAKE FOR ME

I did it! I weent to my brother's b'day party and actually had no cake. It is getting easier and easier by the day.....
Also, one of my bad habits at restaurants is to eat that "star peppermint" candy they have by the dooor. I would automatically pick one up before and after dinner. I broke that habit, which is all it is!
Challenge yourself....try to give up something that is just not good for you. You only live one life with one beautiful body.

2 weeks into NO SUGAR

Honestly, there are times I think about having a cookie, which is my demon in the sugar world but I just don't fall into the "sugar addiction trap". It is mind over matter.
I feel great and I will continue on for the next two weeks and possibly just keep going. I like to test myself from time to time in regards to discipline. It is a good feeling that you have control over IT and IT doesn't control you.
I do take my exercise seriously and do that everyday and always will. Can't live with out it.
I can honestly say, I do not have "the sugar blues".........

Benefits of Bikram yoga

I had a wonderful day yesterday! Drove to NYC with my business partner Susan for a meeting with some of the most talented people on the planet who will be nameless until we work out details.
Anyway, great meeting, fantastic lunch,,NOHO Cafe ,,did not even crave the sweet I usually do after lunch and then back on the road home!
Susan and I switched off driving, which isn't bad but once we got home, we had another meeting at 8pm at night at a Mexican restaurant....hence the life of an entrepreneur.
By the time I got home, I was sore, tired and cranky. When I woke up this morning, I was even worse. I knew in my mind, the only thing that would make me feel better is to go to a Bikram yoga class (106 degrees) and STRETCH. It was amazing and I feel so much better!
Moral of the story, when you are sore and tired and cranky,,,,,go exercise, do something!

Pre and Post workout foods for today!

Today, I switched up my breakfast routine and had a piece of Ezikiel bread (raisan and cinnamom) which can be found at Whole Foods. I topped it with low fat cottage cheese. Perfect oombo and enough fuel for my morning workout and work at my PC
Post workout: I had made a very simple white bean soup with carrots, celery, onion, kale, a couple of tomatoes. Used filtered water for the broth! It was perfection and a delicious post workout meal.

Day 9, no sugar!

Well, I have to say, it has been OK.......it has not been too difficult but I do have my moments, usually in the afternoon when I have an urge.
I just go to the next email on my computer and carry on. Mind over matter!!

While traveling on the ferry yesterday.........

As you all know, I am quite the health fanatic. My Mom always loved to exercise and taught us all about health eating by showing not preaching. I/we would observe what she ate and of course what she fed us.....some of the time, I did not like it but that was that...being one of eleven kids, you have no choice! Eat what is in front of you!!
So, traveling to LI on the ferry yesterday, I could not help to notice the eating habits of my fellow travelers...
Black/white cookies, mounds of french fries, huge white bagels etc..... and btw, they did have some healthy choices. I chose a tuna salad and a water.......
These people are oblivious to what are healthy choices.....we really need to educate our children now before it is too late.
People are killing themselves slowly by eating such horrendous food.......
Love Jamie Oliver.....he is actually trying to do something about this mayhem!!

Health Magazine, March 2011 Page 16

There is an article in Health this month on working out on an empty stomach, first thing in the morning. I have done this for years. I usually just have coffee and go!
You have enough energy (fat) to hold you over through the workout. I have done heavy triathlon trainings in the past, just on coffee and a banana.....eat afterwards. Going to the gym!

Check out Health Magazine, one of my favourite ones!

Dancing Fool!!

I had a wonderful time at the Lowell General Ball last night with my business partner, Susan Anton Pasanen.......so much fun.
Danced till I ached and I am paying today. Dancing on 4 inch heels does not work for my back. Off to the steam and a swim.....got to move!
BTW, 3 days, no sugar, feeling strong, not even tempted. It is amazing how your mind works....

30 Day Sugar Free Challenge!

HI all,
Well, I have done this before and I will do this again.

Lately, I have been a "cookie" monster! Eating them like there is no tomorrow. So, starting tomorrow, March 4th, I will go without any sugar. I generally eat very healthy but this will be quite the challenge for me. I always love that bit of sweet after a delicious meal.

I just came back from Bikram Yoga and am starving!!! First thing I would go for is the cookies but I am having a Spinach blend salad with lemon and EVOO, a touch of whole grain pasta with vegetables and feta cheese!

I will update you on Twitter and my blog to let you know my ups, downs and challengiing times. Where there is a will there is a way.

Challenge yourself!! Disipline is good for the soul!

SoHo House

Just had a wonderful lunch with a dear old friend, Joan Robbins Lacey. It was great to see her and catch up. Love the Soho House. We had the most healthy delicious, quinoa tabouleh with grilled shrimp, fresh parsley and lemon. Their flatbread pizza is to die for......

Obesity and Pregnancy< NY Times article

I was reading the NY Times the other day and was astounded by the facts and figures of women who have a BMI greater than 30 and are pregnant.
The cost for delivering a baby for obese women is $200,000 as opposed to women that are in the normal, healthy range which is $13,000. Hospitals are having to buy bigger beds, chairs and equipment for the obese. This is just lunacy. People have to get control of their lives. It is all about disipline and food education. Something has to be done. This is so embarrassing for our country......you don't see this happening any where else in the world.

Day 5, of the 7 day detox plan

When you are on a detox plan, you really have to improvise if you are invited out to lunch etc.

I did go out to lunch yesterday and had a salsd, no salt, and used lemon for my dressing. Perfect.....
One of the hardest things for me when I was out to lunch was no salt!! I love salt and cut it out cold turkey.....it only takes disipline. It is only in your head.
Also, told the waiter, "no bread", which is also hard but if it is not there, you don't miss it!

I still feel good and have two more days to go!!

Day 4 on the Goop.com 7 day detox plan

Honestly, I feel really good....it is not hard, you just have to have disipline and will power. I have not had bread or sugar for four days and trust me that is hard for me. I think it is just habit. You have to break bad habits.......

Instructional Video prep in one week!!

We have to reshoot our instructional video for HoneyBelle bodybuffer. I did the first one, which was fine. We had no budget and this was what I had to do.

So, we have to reshoot for a number of reasons and in the end we decided I WOULD DO THE VIDEO AGAIN.......UGGGGGG.
To be honest, I am OK with my shape but the reality of being in underwear for the camera again is tough...plus I just had my surgery on my neck and haven't been able to exercise as much as I would like..

So, I went to GOOP.com, Gwenyth Paltrow's site and found her one week detox plan. I read it over and it is actually quite doable. So, yesterday was my first day of "detoxing"....at one point I got really hungry and tired but made it though the day.

The carrot/ginger salad dressing is delicious as well as the brocolli/arugula soup.

I highly recommend this plan for anyone that wants to clean up their act for a week!

Finally pain free!

After seeing several Doctors and 10 months later, I am finally pain free.

I have had neck and thoracic pain for over 10 months now and went to at least five Docs.....most of who told me, "I was getting old", "I can't help you, it is hereditary" and "just live with it". Ridiculous statements for someone who is my age, 52 and in great shape.

I finally met Dr. Bruce Cook of New England Neurology who said he could help me by fusing disk C4 and C5. I did the surgery on the 13 and today on the 16Th, I feel 100% better.......

HoneyBelle bodybuffer

Hi Everyone, sorry I haven't written in a while. I have been busy with the HoneyBelle...we went to NYC to show it to Paul Cavaco (the Creative Director at Allure) and the Beauty Editor, Amy. They both were intrigued and very receptive to our device.......
We need to get those bodies ready for bikini season..........Happy buffing!

The day of going out to a fab restaurant!

There is nothing worse than not being completely hungry when you go to a decent restaurant. You do not want to feel ill or full. You need to get the true experience by being a bit hungry.
What I always do, is have my favorite drink. I have told you all this before but it is my go to drink for cleansing.
Fill a 32 oz bottle with filtered water, the juice of one lemon, 1T of grade B Maple Syrup and a dash of cayenne pepper. The lemon is refreshing and cleansing and makes you feel great and so healthy...try it.....
